What is your morning routine?

The beginning of a school year is an awesome time of year. Campus staff out front of the building meeting and greeting students each morning, making sure that they are ready and prepared for the day. This is a great way to communicate with parents and students and see what different demeanors students are bringing to school that day. Many issues can be resolved before the first bell ever rings based on this daily routine. This sets the mood for the day and does not only develop a positive climate but is also an opportunity to monitor for any safety concerns.
Is this a routine that continues throughout the year or one that will fade away as other things take priority? What staff is normally out meeting & greeting? Is part of the campus administration part of this daily practice? Is your law enforcement or central office staff involved? Meeting and greeting should be occurring at parent drop off, but also at where the buses drop students off, where student(s) park, etc... Does the same occur at dismissal? Are parents allowed to walk their student(s) to their class each morning? How is that monitored if that your normal practice?
The value of the morning routine is invaluable! This is a positive prevention area that cannot be overlooked. Examine your school day start-up and look for ways that it can be improved. Always focused on ways to assure the safety of our staff and students. Praying for a great 24-25 school year.
